2010 Republican State Convention

APRIL 15-17, 2010   JUNEAU, ALASKA

Call To Alaska Republicans

In compliance with the Rules of the Alaska Republican Party, the State Central Committee calls a STATE CONVENTION in Juneau, Alaska of elected delegates from its forty election districts on April 15 -17, 2010.  The State Republican Convention shall elect State officers, adopt State Party Rules, Platform and Resolutions and conduct such other business as may properly come before said convention.

Registered Republican voters of the several legislative districts who are in accord with the principles of the Republican Party and are in sympathy with its aims and purposes are invited to unite under this call in the selection of delegates to said convention.  All Alaskans are invited to register at their district conventions and participate in this process.

DELEGATES TO THE STATE CONVENTION AND THEIR ALTERNATES SHALL BE ELECTED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

          
1.  State Convention delegates from the various districts have been apportioned on the basis of the Republican US House of Representative Candidate’s vote in the last preceding Alaska State General Election and are shown below. Each district is apportioned one alternate delegate for each delegate.

        2.  Each delegate and alternate shall be a qualified Republican voter in his/her district.  Should he/she not appear as a Republican on the current Voter Registration List, he/she must furnish proof of registration.

        3.  State convention delegates and alternates shall be elected at large by a plurality of a District Convention adjourned before Mar 15, 2010 at a time and place as shall be designated by the respective District Committee.

          4.  There shall be no proxies at any level of this convention process.

          5.  No delegate or alternate to the District or State Convention shall be bound by any attempt of a district to impose the unit rule or block voting.  

          6.  Notice showing date, time and place for District Conventions shall be posted on the ARP website, published in a general circulation publication or posted in a public location not less than 30 days prior to the said District Conventions.

       7.  District committees shall take action to achieve the broadest possible participation of all qualified Republican voters in the delegate selections process.  Participation may in no way be abridged for reasons of sex, religion, race, color, age or national origin.

         8.  The State Convention delegate and alternate fees shall be $225.   Each District establishes its District Convention fees.

Thursday April 15

 

  1:30 PM         Alaska Airlines flight No. 64 arrives

  1:50              Bus leaves Juneau International Airport for downtown 
        Juneau hotels

  2:00              Convention registration opens at the Baranof in the main 
                        lobby

  3:00              Tours of Capitol (sign-up required)

  4:00              State Central Committee (SCC) in the Treadwell Room at 
                        the Baranof

  4:30              Working dinner served in the Treadwell Room to SCC
                        members

  6:00              SCC meeting concludes

  6:30              Dessert Reception for Convention Delegates & Alternates 
        at the Governor’s House (limited capacity)

  8:00              Reception ends

 

Friday April 16

 

  7:00 AM          Convention registration opens at Centennial Hall in the 
                          lobby

  7:30               Continental breakfast with gubernatorial candidates

  9:00               Convention opens

12:00 PM          Box lunches served to Convention Delegates, Alternates 
                          & Guests

  6:00               Cocktails served prior to Convention Banquet at 
                          Centennial Hall

  7:00               Convention Banquet

  9:30               Reconvene Committees (as needed)

 

Saturday April 17

 

  7:00 AM         Hot buffet breakfast with congressional candidates

  8:30              Convention reconvenes

12.00 PM          Plated lunch is served

  4:00              Convention adjourns

  4:05              Post Convention SCC meeting (SCC members only)

  6:15              Bus departs from Centennial Hall for the airport

  7:55              Alaska Airlines flight No. 67 departs Juneau for Anchorage

Flights
There are 4 flights between Juneau and Anchorage daily.  Capital City Republicans will provide free bus transportation for convention attendees arriving in Juneau on Flight # 64 on Thursday and departing on Flight #67 on Saturday.   CCR may provide transportation for attendees arriving on Flight #70 at 9:26 p.m. on Thursday evening.
